VRMETA is dedicated to making our blockchain easily accessible to the public. Our games will be heavily using blockchain technology, and we do not want our community to be put off by perceived technical responsibilities to enjoy our ecosystem. Therefore VRMETA is introducing Chain Pocket, our solution to hard-to-read long string addresses.

Blockchain technology is revolutionary in-part due to its public-private key system. A 12–24 seed phrase is typically used to derive the private key of an address. This private key is derived by cryptographic hashing functions which convert the phrase into a fixed-byte size, which is how you get the typical blockchain addresses. Theoretically, any input can be inserted to derive a different output, from the letter ‘a’ to ‘akfjkdfvpjhfpierhepsfndpfsiou’. Regardless, it will be converted to a fixed output based on the input. Try yourself: https://andersbrownworth.com/blockchain/hash . As such, crypto currency does not actually go ‘in’ a wallet; it is all on the blockchain, and some are allocated to specific keypairs. All of the currency in a blockchain is free-floating and gets locked by the keys.

Username-derived addresses

With VRMETA, we will still be using this hashing algorithm for public and private keys, as the security and freedom provided by it are not to be discarded. However, with Chain Pocket, we will add a third part: Username. Every modern application is easy to use with usernames, so we want our blockchain to be using them as well in order to be more accessible. Usernames will be tied to the public address on the backend, so VRMETA users can simply type a username to send funds to. The username will be appended to an 8-number pin to derive the underlying address. On VRMETA, you will no longer need to ask your friends to send you a long, hard to remember string of numbers and letters; now you can send them VRMETA in a way that’s comfortable and familiar.
